January 2022
Prof. Dr. Manish Tiwari (UCL) opened the HARMoNIC workshop on the topic of Emerging innovations for Energy-Water Sustainability in the morning of January 25th 2022. The first keynote of the day was given by Prof. Dr. Dimos Poulikakos (ETH Zurich) on the topic of "Exploiting the physics of sunlight-surface interactions to inspire disrupting technologies in water condensation", followed by an invitated keynote on "Nature-inspired surfaces for water energy harvesting and thermal cooling" given by Prof. Dr. Zuankai Wang (City University, HK).
The second day of the workshop began with a presentation by Dr. Marco Pantaleo on the topic of EIC funded projects and innovations, followed by presentations from early stage researchers. Finally, Prof. Dr. Tiwari gave the closing note of the workshop

One of the regular exchanges between HARMoNIC consortium partners took place in November. Due to the pandemic, the meeting was held online as all project meetings this year.

Due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the HARMoNIC consortium is back to working from home, with limited access to the laboratories.

On September 1st 2020, external page Dr. Prasenjit Kabi joined the HARMoNIC team at UCL in London, UK. He will work on nanongineered surfaces for steam condensation application.

New PhD student within HARMoNIC at the beginning of 2020 - external page Prexa Shah has just joined the group of Prof. Hans-Jürgen Butt at the Department of Physics at Interfaces of Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research. She will work on membrane distillation.
November 2019
The 1st review meeting of the HARMoNIC project took place on November 18th 2019, right after the 3rd project meeting in Athens, Greece. After a warm welcome from the hosts at NCSR-D, the review day was opened by Prof. Dimos Poulikakos from the coordinating institution ETH Zurich. The Proejct Officer of HARMoNIC introduced the scope of the meeting, followed by a tour de table.
The review of the external page RIA action project, which is subdivided into 6 Work Packages, continued with presentations on the progress of each one of the work packages. In between, all participants had the chance to particiapte in a laboratory tour of the facilities at NCSR-D and to enjoy a HARMoNIC-related equipment demostraiton. The review meeting concluded with a feedback from the reviewers and an open discussion regarding the project, its resutls and achievements so far.

New Post-Doc joins the HARMoNIC team at UCL - Dr. external page Vikramjeet Singh joined the team of Prof. Manish Tiwari at UCL Mechanical Engineering in July 2019. His research concentrates on surface engineering for enhanced condensation heat transfer.
The HARMoNIC logo has been voted and decided on!
Through an internal (consortium) competition we defined a unique logo for the HARMoNIC project.
